One Health and Development Initiative (OHDI)

Advancing One Health and Sustainable Development

We are a global nonprofit organization applying the One Health approach to address interconnected challenges across human, animal, plant, and environmental health to advance sustainable health, well-being, and development for all.

Why

One Health?

The health and wellbeing of people, animals, plants, and ecosystems are deeply interconnected. Achieving lasting impact requires holistic, collaborative, and evidence-based approaches. Guided by this understanding, OHDI drives education, advocacy, research, and practical solutions that bridge disciplines to build healthier, more resilient, and sustainable communities.

“OHDI's AFIWEL Program has been transformative, reshaping my capacity to lead, research, and influence policy in ethical and sustainable aquaculture. Before AFIWEL, my work focused on research and metrics in fish production. Now, I am able to translate research to Zambia's policy outcomes and One Health impact.

"The poultry farmers’ training and WhatsApp community have been really great help to me. It connects the gap between farmers and vets while helping us learn from each other. Through this platform, I also became aware of AMR and how to improve my practices. I’m grateful to OHDI for this impactful initiative."

"I use OHDI's RORE to get quick health responses while revising. The answers are specific and well explained compared to regular Google that brings up all related topics and makes it difficult to find an answer immediately."

"The program greatly supported my journey as an AMR Champion. Before, I had little knowledge about AMR. Now, with OHDI’s support, I have established 3 active AMR and WASH Clubs in Adamawa State. I am grateful to OHDI for giving me the opportunity to grow, learn, and become a strong voice in the fight against AMR"
